UPROOTED

I recently visited an ancient neighborhood in the heart of Ningbo, China. The majority of the neighborhood was built during the Qing Dynasty, many of the current residents have only ever lived in this neighborhood. This area is set to be turned into a tourist attraction and the current residents are being forced to move out. I made these photographs as a gift to the residents of the neighborhood and to document the old ways of living that are slowly disappearing in China.
